Check out how much money was “lost” from free slaves after the American Civil War.

One man, railroad executive Henry D. Cooke, was single-handedly responsible for losing all the funds from the Freedman’s Savings Bank (he was trying to get into the post-war building boom in Washington DC).

Cooke was never indicted for his actions…
